USD Opportunity Center to Host National Speaker and Best-Selling Author Focusing on Mental Health
The University of South Dakota Opportunity Center is hosting “Game Changer: Combine Mental Health Practices with High-Performance Habits to Lean Into Your Most Authentic, Powerful Self,” featuring Darryll Stinson on Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Muenster University Center.

Stinson, a former Division 1 athlete, two-time TEDx speaker, best-selling author, hip-hop artist and pastor, will help students learn how to develop a system of self-care, understand why identity shouldn’t only come from accomplishments, engage in strategies to develop a healthy source of identity, strive to reframe mental health stigmas, strengthen leadership skills by realizing their value and more.
Throughout his talk, Stinson will discuss how fighting chronic depression led him to multiple suicide attempts, all because Stinson never felt like he was enough. Stinson got a second chance, discovered his purpose and became a successful entrepreneur and family man. He now inspires students to defy the statistics, believe they matter and lean into vulnerability when it comes to mental health.
The event is free and open to the public.
